A mixed media painting workshop entitled “Beyond Boundaries” conducted by the Pure Fine Arts students of Kreativia group successfully enlivened SMAN 1 Tumpang, Malang. The event was held for two days, on April 23 and 25, 2024 in the upper hall of SMAN 1 Tumpang which was attended by students of class XIC and XID with great enthusiasm.
The event began on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, which was opened by remarks from the teachers of SMAN 1 Tumpang, and continued with a material session presented by an alumnus of Pure Fine Arts of Universitas Brawijaya who certainly has a lot of experience in the field of fine arts, namely Osyadha Ramadhanna, S.Sn. After that, it was continued with the workshop session, where the participants had been divided into 20 groups, each group consisting of 3-4 people.
In her speech, Mrs. Deny, as the academic of SMAN 1 Tumpang, expressed her full support for the event and hoped that this workshop could be useful for the students of SMAN 1 Tumpang, especially classes XI C and XI D. She also thanked them for choosing SMAN 1 Tumpang as a place to share their knowledge. Meanwhile, Mrs. Endang as the Cultural Arts teacher, said that this event was suitable to develop the creativity of the students of XI C and XI D classes.
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, an art appreciation was held in the form of an exhibition of mixed media paintings produced by workshop participants. The exhibition was attended by many people including students, teachers, and even students from outside. The visitors could appreciate the work as well as choose the best work using a voting system by sticking the stickers provided by the committee on the available board.
The winners and prize distribution were announced at the peak of the event, where the three best works were selected through voting and the favorite winner was chosen by the committee.
“Beyond Boundaries” is not only a workshop but also a platform to express themselves and hone the talents of SMAN 1 Tumpang students. With full support from the school, it proves that this event plays a role in the journey of art and creativity of SMAN 1 Tumpang students.

The presence of this workshop also succeeded in highlighting the artistic potential possessed by several students of SMAN 1 Tumpang, especially classes XI C and XI D. There were several students who showed their expertise in the field of fine arts, including drawing. The success of this event drew the attention of the academics of SMAN 1 Tumpang. Mrs. Deny, the academic, offered the committee to fill the P5 subject in the following year.
Thus, the “Beyond Boundaries” mixed media painting workshop is not only a workshop event, but also an important step in supporting the development of the interests and talents of SMAN 1 Tumpang students. It is hoped that the success of this event will be a motivation for all parties to continue to support and appreciate art in the educational environment.
