(25/11/2023) The Brawijaya University Fine Arts Student Association (HIMA) together with the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UB hosted the Artpresiasi X Fine Art Fest (AFA) event which was held on November 11-12, 2023. This activity is the highlight of FIB’s year-end event with a series of interesting activities such as art exhibitions, costume parades, and art festivals. Fine Art Fest (FAF) itself is a year-end event of HIMA Fine Arts UB which is regularly held every year.

This year FAF collaborated with Artpresiasi, a program initiated by BEM Faculty of Cultural Studies. Located in the FIB B building, a series of events such as an exhibition with the

theme “Process, Struggle, Human” presents 30 works from 28 artists from various regions displayed around the FIB B hallway and is open to the public from 13:00 to 22:00 WIB.

The series of events began with a costume parade which was held on November 3, 2023 with a route starting from FIB B traveling around the UB area passing through the FEB area, Creative Land (CL), Raden Wijaya Gazebo and ends at the FIB A building. This costume parade was attended by FIB students who wore various forms of costumes with the theme “Culture”. The parade was held to promote the creativity of FIB events. Despite the rainy weather that was pouring during the day, it did not affect the enthusiasm of the FIB students to carry out this parade. The atmosphere of excitement was accompanied by yells from Garda Budaya, FIB supporters.

The AFA event was officially launched on November 11, starting with a welcoming speech from the Head of Fine Arts Department of UB, Prof. Dr. Zuliati Rohmah, followed by remarks from Wiarsya Humam Adi Wicaksono as FAF Chief Executive, Roro Aninda as Vice Chair and Galih Nugraha as President of BEM FIB UB. The event was commemorated with a symbolic ribbon cutting by the Head of Pure Fine Arts Department, Prof. Dr. Zuliati Rohmah. The series of events was then continued with Cultural Talks with speaker Regy Eko Prasetyo, an observer, music practitioner, sound and social space. The atmosphere of the exhibition was very lively with FIB UB students and the general public who seemed to appreciate the works.

Various artworks on display present painting, photography, and installations. One of the installation works that attracted visitors’ attention was a collaborative work from UB Fine Arts students Muhammad Logam and M. Fajrin Maulana entitled “Benawa Tirta” This installation work with visual boats in the pond raised the importance of focusing on goodness, prioritizing in healthy relationships, and considering how our actions can provide positive benefits to the surrounding environment.

The second day of the AFA series of events was closed with the main event of the festival by presenting various performances performed by FIB UB students such as live bands, dance performances and theater performances from Lingkar Theater. The excitement of the event lasted from noon to night.

“This AFA activity is an achievement of HIMA Fine Arts UB which this year has been able to collaborate with BEM FIB UB and involve not only UB Fine Arts students, but the entire FIB UB community,” said Ninda, Vice Chair of AFA. The collaboration between HIMA Fine Arts UB and BEM FIB UB aims to strengthen the relationship between Fine Arts Student UB and BEM FIB UB and show the contribution of Fine Arts UB both in terms of work and involvement in this event. Ninda hopes that the collaboration event between Fine Arts and BEM FIB UB in the future can be held more successfully and get more audiences.
