Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
Learning Process
The learning process is based on the SN-Dikti (National Standard of Higher Education) and the Guidebook for the Preparation of the Higher Education Curriculum, and it is student-centered learning. This approach encourages students to be more active, critical, and creative in their learning. This approach includes the following learning methods:

Studying
A type of learning in which the learning and teaching takes place in a classroom.

Responses and Tutorials
The method of learning in which lecturers provide direct guidance to students in order to aid the learning process.

Research
This type of learning entails research activities between lecturers and students to develop science, the results of which are scientific works.

Discussion Group
This type of learning entails students working in groups to solve problems that are guided and directed by the lecturer. This method aims for students to take an active role in expressing their opinions, to be able to work in groups, and to think critically in order to equip themselves in the community.

Simulation
A type of learning that gives students hands-on experience with material-related situations so that they can apply what they’ve learned in the community.

Cooperative Learning
Learning that focuses on the behavior of others while working together motivates each other by forming a variety of groups to understand the characteristics of students and achieve learning goals.

Project-Based Learning
Project-based learning is based on the material, so students are expected to complete assignments well within the time allotted.

Problem-Based Learning
Problem-based learning involves using everyday phenomena to help students hone their analytical thinking skills and solve problems in their environment.

Practicing on the field
In the form of practical work, there are two types of learning: internship and thematic. Internships can be obtained through direct practical work in agencies or industries related to the fine art. Meanwhile, thematic practice with field work practices in the community can be carried out to support community activities. The work practice aims to put science into practice in the community.
The learning methods described above are used in regular classes. Furthermore, students can participate in activities outside of the study program by enrolling in the Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus or MBKM (Program Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka), the credit for which can be transferred to MBKM courses in the Fine Arts Study Programme.
Online learning is done both synchronously and asynchronously during the Covid-19 pandemic. Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Suite for Education (Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs, @student.ub.ac.id) are some of the platforms used for synchronous learning. The Google Classroom platform and UB’s Virtual Learning Management System with vlm2.ub.ac.id are used for asynchronous learning.
Fieldwork has been incorporated in the following courses
– MK Keramik Malangan (The students work directly in Studio Kriya Nusantara for six meetings).
– MK Metodologi Penelitian (The students a guided to take data from various field to have real experiences in research).
– MK Sketsa (The students assigned too visit some iconic building to create sketchs).
– MK Aplikasi Manajemen Seni (The students assigned to visit some manajament body in which they made collaboration to exhibit the artwork, to hold art courses and workshop).
– MK Seni Lukis Dasar (The students assigned to visit some iconic building/ places to create art work with uses several medium/ materials).
– MK Seni Mural (The students create murals in various public places).
Multidisciplinary Courses
Multidisciplinary (or interdisciplinary) course is a team-taught course in which students are asked to understand a single subject as it’s seen by two or more traditional disciplines. Multidisciplinary teaching can open students’ eyes to different views of a subject that they had never considered before.There are several courses that are taught in a multidisciplinary manner taught by cross-disciplinary lecturers, among others:
ASSESsMENT
The credit system is used to determine whether a student’s learning was successful or not. The lecturer is in charge of evaluating the credit system. Lecturers are responsible for assigning grades to students based on the appropriate indicators. The credit scores for each course reflect students’ efforts in doing face-to-face activities, practicum, structured assignments, field work practices, and so on. The cognitive, psychomotor, and affective components of the examination are all considered.
The algorithm below can be used to calculate student study results.

The following formula is used to determine the GPA (Indeks Prestasi/IP):
IP=∑K×N∑K
Information:
K = Credit for each course is denoted by the letter K.
N = Each course’s worth.
∑K = The total number of credits scheduled for the semester.
∑K×N = For each course, the number of times K is multiplied by N.
