Transformation: Impression of Body Movement
As an Idea for Sculture Art Creation
By: Fu’ad Nuriyanto
The purpose of this final project is to explore the value of transforming the impression of human body movement in the form of sculpture. The impression of human body movement in question is the impression of motion that immerses the file or gives a special impression, in short, the impression is powerful and tickles the author’s consciousness to be expressed through a transformation path based on metaphor. The idea of each sculpture is reinterpreted and given another form’.
The sources of the motion impressions are obtained from the author’s daily life and are inseparable from social interactions. The movements in question are mulet, stretching, laziness, or fatigue. The creation method used to transform the idea refers to L.H Chapman’s formulation which consists of three stages, namely Inception of an idea, Elaboration and refinement, and Retention in a medium. The results of the author’s creation present seven works entitled “Mulet”, “Pasrah”, “Nggelembosi”, “Pandiculation”, “Loyo” (3 works/work series).
The visualization of all works utilizes several techniques, including cast technique, welding technique, pasting and hardening an object. The various media and techniques used by the author in this creative process have helped shift the paradigm and creative practice of the author in executing ideas, or at least the way of treating ideas, then moving into spaces that seem increasingly widespread and challenging to be able to represent the concept to be conveyed.
