The Study Programme of Fine Arts, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, held a fine art exhibition titled “Art on Postcar(t)d” as part of the 15th Anniversary of FIB UB as well as welcoming new students. The Art on Postcar(t)d exhibition was initiated by Romy Setiawan, S.Pd., M.Sn, one of the fine arts lecturers and the chief executive of this exhibition. He explained that “Art on Postcar(t)d” serves as a “Personal Space” for each artist. Through small media such as postcards, the artists can express themselves as if writing a diary. Romy emphasized that this exhibition is not just a place to showcase artworks, but also a means of regeneration for students.
Mr. Romy also underlined the importance of the managerial experience gained by students through the formation of the exhibition committee. “This is not just a ceremonial exhibition, but also a regeneration. Students learn to make works while honing managerial skills, such as advocacy and handling,” he explained. In the context of fine arts, handling skills, namely how to display and package artworks, are increasingly important and can be a career opportunity for students in the future.
