Mini Art Malang MAM Exhibition “Love is Calling” 2023

Studio Dinding Luar (SDL) initiated the Mini Art Malang (MAM) fine art exhibition held from June 09, 2023 to June 22, 2023 at the Malang Arts Council (DKM), Malang City.

Exhibition is a medium of communication in the form of presenting artworks that can be appreciated by the public. Exhibition is an activity to convey ideas or ideas to the wider community which are presented in an alternative space or place according to the context and concept raised. Malang City itself has an art social scene that is said to be quite good. Many communities, art studios, artists and art spaces actively organize art exhibitions, one of which is Studio Dinding Luar (SDL).

Studio Dinding Luar (SDL) is an art space created in Malang at 2000, with Dadang Rukmana as director, Akhmadi Budi Santoso as curator, and Effendy Setyohandoyo as manager. Studio Dinding Luar initiated an annual exhibition event program or commonly referred to as the art market in Malang. The exhibition is Mini Art Malang (MAM) which aims to accommodate artists, especially young artists who have a diversity of techniques, ideas, and working media to have the opportunity to exhibit. In addition, MAM events are also presented in public spaces that function as a means of voicing appreciation for creative works of art, perception, as well as education for art lovers.

There have been 3 Mini Art Malang events held from 2019 to 2022 with various themes and different exhibition concepts. In 2023 Studio Dinding Luar held the 4th MAM event with the title “Love is Calling”. At the Mini Art Malang Exhibition, approximately 166 artists participated with the number of works collected around 425. The collected works will later be selected around 126 artworks displayed and the rest will be promoted through catalog media distributed to collectors and visitors. Several Brawijaya University Fine Arts students were also involved in presenting their artworks at the Mini Art Malang exhibition. Out of a total of 166 artists, 19 students and 2 lecturers participated in the exhibition with a total of around 40 artworks.
