(Monday, 22/04/2024) Under the direction of Munir Kahar, with the support of Agni Tripratiwi and Intan Permatasari, along with the curation team of Gemah Ripah, the “Jumping Fence” project becomes a “new” space as well as a real challenge for the creativity of the participating artists in the exhibition. The fundamental idea sparking the Jumping Fence exhibition is to reinterpret the value of artworks that are often approached, questioned, and debated in issues surrounding someone’s creative endeavors. Thus, the curatorial framework of the Jumping Fence exhibition remixes the forms of ‘comfort’ that we know as the fundamental principles of representation, whether they be ideoplastic or visioplastic references. Artistic creation is not merely about recognized expressions – in the sense of a stagnant creative process, a sort of rigidity, or rote memorization; therefore, this event carries a mission to invite participants to rediscover, ‘clear the underbrush,’ break through the impasse of perspective, thus opening up the possibility to recognize alternative viewpoints. Creativity in this context is a central issue, where each artist is expected to bring their own creative leap, not to compare their own artistic-aesthetic achievements with others, but rather to explore the realms of self-awareness from crisis towards catharsis.
