(Sunday, 8/10/2023) A total of 14 students from the Fine Art Study Program, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), participated in The Sidharta Auctioneer event held on September 26 – 30, 2023 at Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta. The event has pioneered the auction of art, emerging artists and vintage collectibles.
For this event, Sidharta Auctioneer collaborates with Studio Dinding Luar (SDL) and IndoArtNow. Studio Dinding Luar (SDL) is a studio in Malang that accommodates artists from various cities in East Java. At Sidharta Auctioneer, Studio Dinding Luar presented the works of 25 young artists who participated in the Mini Art Malang (MAM) exhibition on June 9-22, 2023. A total of 14 students from the Fine Arts program of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) participated in this auction, both active students and alumni from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Brawijaya.
The five-day event opened with an exhibition of works that could be viewed by the public on September 26-29, 2023, then followed by the culmination of the auction of works on September 30, 2023. The auction was attended by collectors and art lovers. A total of 15 items were sold, of which 11 were works by Brawijaya Fine Arts students. One of the works of UB Fine Arts students that attracted the attention of art collectors was by Bagas Rachelma, who is a 2019 student with works entitled “Competition” (2023) and “Kesenjangan Sudah Sampai Istana” (2023).
This shows the participation and quality of the work of UB Fine Arts students in the environment of the art industry. “I am very glad that currently UB Fine Arts fellows are very excited to support each other to be able to develop together, and the participation of UB Fine Arts in Sidharta Auctioneer, in my opinion, is a form of productivity for them in their enthusiasm for work.” Bagas said.
Talking about the progress of UB Fine Arts in participating in art events, Bagas gave his opinion, “In my opinion, UB Fine Arts students have always been enthusiastic in their work, as proven by the number of friends who participated in exhibitions held in many regions. And if it is continued, it will encourage other friends so that it will not only have an impact on themselves but also make the UB Fine Arts environment more enjoyable.”
