CARMEN’S JOURNAL MUSIC

AS AN IDEA FOR VISUAL ART CREATION

By : Sylvia Fasha Sjaawalz

Sylvia is known as the vocalist and frontman of the Red Dose Band and actively performs at music events in Malang. Sylvia sees and reflects on the way musicians work in making works, starting from conceptualizing the work, creating instruments, writing lyrics and other stages that are packaged as perfectly as possible.

Following the work of an American band called Avenged Sevenfold. The band released an album called “Life is But a Dream…” and on the album, all work on the 2-dimensional visual work of the album was carried out by an artist named Wes Lang due to a conversation between them to collaborate where the works created by Wes Lang would be used as inspiration for Avenged Sevenfold’s latest album. After the album was released, they collaborated again to organize an exclusive exhibition filled with works that inspired the album “Life is But a Dream…”.

This Final Project Exhibition builds on momentum and spans the musical journey of Sylvia and the Red Dose Band to take the music to another level, transforming the art of music into visual art. The music will later be combined into one album called “Carmen’s Journal”.
