As a series of the 9th Anniversary of FIB UB with the theme “Strengthening Cultural Identity in the Millennial Era”, Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya (FIB UB) held a Fine Arts and Literature Exhibition entitled Dedicated Aesthetic #3 with the theme Beyond Illustration. The Fine Arts and Literature Exhibition was officially opened by the Dean of FIB UB, Prof. Dr. Agus Suman, S.E., DEA on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 19.00 WIB. The exhibition was held in the 2nd Floor Hall of Building A FIB UB for 8 days (30/9 – 7/10/2018) from 09.00 to 20.00 WIB.

Dedicated Aesthetic #3 offers another perspective in discussing the creative area of art creation, exploring ideas that are ‘refreshing’ for the aesthetic sense of the exhibitors in cultivating taste, refining the mind, and gaining educational value during the process.

“Beyond Illustration” is the title of the third exhibition held by Dedicated Aethetic. This theme was chosen, starting from the anxiety of the students of the Fine Arts Study Program at FIB UB over the translation of illustration images that are merely a ‘modest’ visual patch. This theme indirectly invites the exhibitors to test their perception in interpreting the narrative of short stories to be translated into visual language which also opens other doors of understanding.

The Dedicated Aesthetic #3 exhibitors created their works based on 1 of the 10 short stories selected by the students of Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, FIB UB. From the 10 short stories, approximately 50 selected works of art were created with a variety of techniques and mediums of realization, such as graphic works, paintings, resin preparations, embroidery, and others.

To motivate the participants, three nominations of the best works were selected by the judges, as well as the favorite works chosen by the visitors. The winners of the best and favorite works received awards given at the closing ceremony of the 9th Anniversary of FIB UB.
