This exhibition is part of the fulfillment of the final semester assignment of the Appropriation Painting course, where students show their artistic skills through stunning works. Each painting in this exhibition revives elements from the works of famous artists, in accordance with the theme of appropriation which invites borrowing or reworking elements from existing works and adapting them to new perspectives and contexts.

The Art Gallery Building A FCS UB once again became a stage for a variety of characters and stunning techniques from students, each bringing a unique story and interpretation. The array of paintings on display at this event not only captivated students and staff from the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) and Universitas Brawijaya (UB), but also attracted the interest of the general public and professional artists. The enthusiasm of visitors was evident from the crowded gallery every day, showing a high appreciation for the innovation and creativity of the students.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the students’ ability to revive famous works from the past in a new and exciting context. Each painting reflects a deeply introspective journey, where students combine classical elements with their personal interpretations, creating a mesmerizing harmony between past and present. This not only shows respect for the original works, but also demonstrates how art can continue to evolve and find new relevance in a modern context.

The A&E Visual Art Exhibition has attracted visitors from all walks of life, from academics to artists to the general public. Not only presenting a visual experience, each work in this exhibition also invites the audience to explore deeper the meaning and message implied. The exhibition is also a platform for Fine Arts students to showcase their technical and artistic abilities, as well as their courage in taking artistic risks.
